They want more people to join in and play basketball all over the state. This helps make the basketball community stronger. Basketball at Wyndham is a sport for everyone.

LGBTIQ+ Victorians
Everyone in the LGBTIQ+ community in Victoria should be able to play basketball in a safe and welcoming place. They should feel valued and heard. Wyndham Basketball Association has promised to welcome all players, workers, and volunteers, no matter their sexuality or gender identity.

Older Adults
Older people in Victoria are staying active and involved in basketball through activities like Walking Basketball and other adaptive forms of the game. For players coming back or new to basketball, modified games for Older Adults offer all the benefits of community, activity, and social fun with a lower risk of injury for those with limited mobility.
Transgender
Wyndham Basketball Association follows Basketball Victoria guidelines for including transgender and gender diverse people in basketball in Victoria. These guidelines help transgender athletes take part while keeping things fair, inclusive, and safe.
Why LGBTIQ+ Inclusion Matters
The LGBTIQ+ community includes people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, and Queer/Questioning. They make up about 11% of Australia’s population. However, many LGBTIQ+ people don’t take part in sports or physical activities. This is often because they’ve had bad experiences, like discrimination or harassment. When sports aren’t inclusive, LGBTIQ+ people miss out on the benefits of being active. These benefits include better physical and mental health, and social connections. Sports can offer more memberships and improve people’s lives.
Womens and Girls
Wyndham Basketball Association is dedicated to growing the participation of women and girls across all aspects of basketball, from playing to coaching, officiating to volunteering, and everything in between.
